Nelligan brings more than 30 years of Molex experience to lead the company
Molex, a leading global manufacturer of electronic solutions, announced that Joe Nelligan officially begins his tenure as CEO today, following the retirement of current CEO Martin P. Slark. Nelligan, who was serving as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and President, brings over 30 years of Molex experience with him to the position. As CEO, Nelligan will be responsible for overseeing the company’s growth as it continues to expand globally in both new and existing markets.

In his role as Chief Operating Officer and President, Nelligan was responsible for leading the company’s Global Sales & Marketing Division and the four Global Product Divisions that serve the data communications, consumer electronics, medical, industrial, automotive, and commercial vehicle markets. He also oversaw the company’s Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations, which supported more than 50 manufacturing facilities in 23 countries.
Nelligan began his career at Molex as an intern, spending two summers working in Molex’s product engineering department before joining Molex full-time in 1986. He held several roles in Engineering, Product Management and Sales before being named Director of New Product Development for the Global Commercial Products Division in 2002. In 2005, he became Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Americas Region, and then Vice President of the Datacom Global Industry Group in the Global Sales & Marketing Division in 2007. In 2009, he was named Vice President of Product Development and Commercialization for the Global Commercial Products Division. And in 2013, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and President of the Global Commercial Products Division based in Singapore, a position he held for three years. He was named Chief Operating Officer for Molex in 2016 and assumed an additional role as President in 2017.

Nelligan graduated from Notre Dame in 1986 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and went on to earn his MBA in 1989 from the University of Chicago. He has been awarded 11 patents in the U.S. He serves on the Board of Directors of the DuPage Children’s Museum (DCM) in Naperville, Ill. He and his wife, Kathleen, who have seven children, live in La Grange Park, Ill.
